Every pantry has, or should have, Olive Oil. I’m not going to get into the semantics of if you should have regular Olive Oil, Virgin Olive Oil, or Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Instead I’ll give you a few different ways to add it to your beauty routine.

Skin

To remove your makeup simply put some Olive Oil in your hands and massage it into your skin. You can even apply it over your closed eyes. It removes liquid eye liner like a charm. After five minutes wipe it off with a tissue or wash cloth. Wash face with normal cleanser. Your skin will feel phenomenally moisturized.

Scalp

For my relaxed beauties with a sensitive scalp, here is a simple solution. Apply a little Olive Oil to your scalp the night before a relaxer. A moisturized scalp is less likely to to become irritated by the relaxer. Abrasions from combing/smoothing the relaxer are also less likely.

Hair

Olive oil and an egg are an awesome pre shampoo treatment. Apply it to your dry hair, cover with a plastic cap, and leave it on for at least 20 minutes. Do this before your regular shampoo and conditioner process. The Olive Oil will soften the hair and scalp while allowing the egg to add protein.

You can also turn any conditioner into a deep conditioning treatment by simply adding some Olive Oil. Add Olive Oil to the conditioner, cover with a plastic cap, wrap your hair with a hot towel or sit under a hooded dryer for approximately 20 mins. Once you rinse your hair will feel softer, moisturized and it will also shine from within.

Makeup Brushes

Makeup brushes are a necessity for a beat face. But sometimes they are difficult to clean. I struggle with removing highly pigmented lipstick and foundation from my synthetic brushes. Simply massage the Olive Oil into the brushes. Let it sit for a couple of minutes. Then shampoo with baby shampoo or dish detergent.

Do you include Olive Oil in your beauty regimen?  Can you think of other ways to use Olive Oil to enhance your beauty?
