Last week one of my biggest career goal was realized. I was selected as the lead hairstylist for the Degen show to kick off Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. While designer Lindsay Degen displayed her spring/summer 2015 looks I created hair looks on behalf of Hair Room Service and was sponsored by international hair care line Schwarzkopf. I was even interviewed by Modern Salon, one of the premiere magazines in the hair industry.

The hair looks for the Degen show were all about matte texture and individuality through the use of twists, faux locs, and cornrows. The foundation for all of the styles was the Schwarzkopf Grip Volume mousse and Dust It. All styles were finished with the Freeze Spray.

Look 1: All Locked Up
Add Grip to wet or dry hair. Blow dry for even distribution. Add Dust It to dry hair to create texture without shine. Twist large sections of hair around finders from root to ends. Slide a flat iron up and down the hair to create more texture. Finish with Freeze spray.

Look 2: Rows My Way
Add Grip to wet or dry hair. Blow dry for even distribution. Create 3 large sections starting from just above the eye brow. Add a cornrow on each side of the head. Add a fish tail braid the top of the head and loosen to preference. Secure braids with a rubber band and bobby pin them under at the ends. Use Osis Mess up to secure  the fly aways as your braid the hair. Finish with Freeze spray.

Look 3: Rows of Locs
Combination of looks 1 and 2.

Look 4: Deceptively Twisted
Add Grip to wet or dry hair. Blow dry for even distribution. Add Dust It to dry hair to create texture  and lift on top of the head without shine. Gather hair to side of the head and 3 strand twist the hair. Push the twist up to widen and shorten the twist. Secure with rubber band and bobby pin. Finish with Freeze spray.

Look 5: Knits and Twisted Hair
Add Grip to wet or dry hair. Blow dry for even distribution. Add Dust It to dry hair to create texture  and lift on top of the head without shine. Gather hair to side of the head and 3 strand twist the hair. Push the twist up to widen and shorten the twist. Secure with rubber band and lay twist across the top of the head, bobby pin to secure. Finish with Freeze spray.

Look 6: Locked and Twisted
Combination of looks 1 and 4.
